What is the difference between Registration and an Annual Practising Certificate (APC)?

In Aotearoa | New Zealand, when you are registered as a Physiotherapist with the Board your registration itself has no expiry date. The legal requirement here to be able to practise is to hold both registration and a current Annual Practising Certificate (APC) for the practising year you intend to work during.

This is the case for any role, voluntary or paid, where your physiotherapy skills or knowledge are used.

The APC is what gets renewed every year as the practising year rolls over. Our practising year runs from April 1 through to March 31 of the following calendar year. APC renewal forms are released around Feb/March to allow practitioners to renew their APC before the new year starts.
